Health Psychology At Well Mind People

Our Health Psychology service at Well Mind People is designed to help adults and young people who are coping with physical health conditions, long-term illness or the impact of medical treatments. Health Psychologists specialise in understanding how physical health, emotions and behaviour are connected, and they provide practical, evidence-based support to improve quality of life.

Living with a health condition can affect every part of your life. You may experience stress, anxiety, low mood, fatigue, fear of symptoms, changes in identity or difficulties adjusting to new routines. Health Psychology offers a safe space to talk through these challenges and learn strategies to manage them more effectively.

During your first appointment, your therapist will take time to understand your health condition, how it affects your day-to-day life and what support you need. They will explore your symptoms, coping strategies, worries, strengths and goals. You may also be asked to complete some questionnaires to help build a full picture of your emotional wellbeing. The assessment usually lasts around 60 minutes and ends with a clear, personalised plan for therapy.

Health Psychology treatment is tailored to your individual needs and may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches or behaviour change strategies. Sessions may focus on managing stress, improving sleep, reducing health-related anxiety, adjusting to a diagnosis, coping with pain, supporting lifestyle changes or navigating the emotional impact of medical procedures. Your therapist will guide you to develop practical skills that help you feel more in control and better able to manage your condition.

This service can be particularly helpful for people living with chronic pain, fatigue conditions, autoimmune disorders, diabetes, cardiac issues, cancer treatment, gastrointestinal conditions, menopause, or other hormonal conditions. It is designed for anyone managing an illness that affects daily functioning or emotional wellbeing, as well as those adjusting to disability, rehabilitation, or recovery after injury.

Health Psychology helps you build resilience, improve your relationship with your body and regain balance in your life. Many clients find it empowering to understand their condition more clearly and to develop tools that make everyday challenges feel more manageable.

If you are struggling with the emotional or behavioural impact of a health condition, our Health Psychologists are here to support you with compassion, expertise and a personalised approach tailored to your needs.
