Do I need a referral?
No — you don’t need a GP or professional referral. You can contact us directly and we’ll help you get started.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book a free consultation using our online booking system:
If you prefer, you’re very welcome to phone us on 07799 917550 or email sara@wellmindpeople.co.uk, and we’ll be happy to talk things through and help you book.
Do you offer same-day or urgent appointments?
We’re not a crisis or emergency service, but we may sometimes have same-day appointments available, depending on availability. Please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.
If you’re in immediate danger or need urgent support, please contact emergency services or your GP.
What should I expect from my first appointment?
Your first appointment is a chance to talk about what’s been going on for you and what you’d like help with. It usually lasts between 50 and 90 minutes, giving plenty of time to talk things through without feeling rushed.
Your therapist will listen carefully, ask some questions, and explain how therapy might help. Together, you’ll decide what feels right for next steps.
How many sessions will I need?
This really varies from person to person and depends on what you’d like to work on. Some people find just a few sessions helpful, while others choose to continue for longer.
We usually encourage people to book six sessions at a time, as this gives enough time to start seeing progress. After your first appointment, your therapist will be able to give you a clearer idea of what might be helpful for you.
Do you accept insurance?
Some of our therapists work with health insurance providers. Please get in touch before booking and we’ll be happy to check whether your insurer is accepted.
Are the sessions confidential?
Yes, they are. We adhere to strict codes of confidentiality which are on our terms and conditions. We are GDPR compliant. The only exception is when we need to prevent serious harm occurring. This is very rare and would be discussed with our clients first.
What is your cancellation policy?
Any appointment cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice is fully chargeable. We are unable to waiver this due to difficulty filling late cancelled appointment slots.
How do I know what therapy is right for me?
We will have an initial discussion to assess your needs and goals and then we can recommend which therapy is the best for you.
At Well Mind People, we provide evidence-based treatments, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Our therapists follow recommendations set out by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to deliver high-quality, effective care.
What Are NICE Guidelines?
NICE guidelines are developed by health and social care experts to offer evidence-based recommendations for diagnosing and treating conditions. They ensure patients receive the best possible care informed by the latest research.
Therapies Recommended by NICE
1. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is one of the most researched therapies recommended by NICE. It is structured and goal-oriented, focusing on addressing unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.
- Depression
- Anxiety Disorders
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Obsessive-Compulsive
- Disorder (OCD)
- Phobias
Eating Disorders - Children and Young People
2. Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
DBT is a form of therapy particularly effective for individuals with complex mental health conditions, especially those involving emotional dysregulation.
- Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD): DBT is recommended as a treatment for people with BPD, particularly those at risk of self-harm or suicidal behaviours.
3. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy for processing traumatic memories. It helps reduce the emotional impact of distressing memories and is highly recommended by NICE.
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD): EMDR is recommended for adults with PTSD and is particularly effective for trauma related to single-event incidents, such as accidents or assaults.
How We Use NICE Guidelines
At Well Mind People, we integrate NICE-recommended therapies into personalized treatment plans. Whether through CBT, DBT, or EMDR, our approach is tailored to meet your specific needs while adhering to the highest standards of care.
